VIRGIN GALACTIC UNVEILS MACH 3 AIRCRAFT DESIGN FOR HIGH-SPEED TRAVEL

A Mach 3 certified delta-wing aircraft with a capacity for around 9 – 19 guest, that is capable of cruising at altitudes above 60,000 feet is part of the new high-speed aircraft being designed by Virgin Galactic Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: SPCE) (“Virgin Galactic”).

The design of the aircraft is focused on making the customers experience the highest priority. Creating a high-speed aircraft that can be safe, reliable, and also sustainable are the primary objectives. An aircraft with these performance capabilities can operate long-distance flights in a fraction of the time.

They mention that the aircraft would be able to take off and land just as any other passenger aircraft would and would have no trouble being able to be serviced by airport ground handlers. The goals for having a smooth and stable integration into the current market would appeal to many consumers.

This new aircraft was just announced today on August 3rd, 2020 as they signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Rolls-Royce. Rolls-Royce has a long history of providing extraordinary performance in their product. The Concorde, which was the only civil-certified commercial aircraft to ever fly at supersonic speeds was powered by Rolls-Royce engines.
