Cessna SkyCourier 408
Textron Aviation Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT) recently announced their newly designed Cessna Courier. It is a unique and versatile aircraft which I personally had the opportunity of seeing the demo myself at NBAA 2019 In Las Vegas.
They had a mock-up of the passenger configuration which was extremely comfortable to walk through.
The cabin provided sufficient space to comfortable walk through without much discomfort. To see how the cabin layout provided sufficient space for luggage underneath the seats, and in the overhead.
Not the mention the area towards the back which can fit extra cargo in a netted area as well as some storage space in the nose as well for crew bags.
Learn more about its specifications and potential usages I found the aircraft to be incredibly functional and versatile.
My initial impression of walking through the cabin encouraged me to discover more about what this aircraft schedule to be airborne in 2020 is capable of.
Maximum Efficiency
The aircraft has a single-point pressure refueling system to allow for fast turnaround on the ground for operational planning. In addition the landing gear system is set up for rugged environments which allow for landing on unimproved runways.
In addition buying this aircraft new provides support by Textron Aviation’s support system which provides expert assistance to various mission types.
Below you can find the specifications from their aircraft brochure.

Versatile Application
The aircraft was designed for high loads and efficiency. Both configurations, freighter and passenger, have a large 87 in W x 89 in H cargo door and flat floor.
- The crew is able to enter the cabin through a second door near the cockpit.
- The avionics on-board are designed to provide the pilots with the equipment they need to be able to safely operate the aircraft.
- The freighter configuration accommodates three LD3 shipping containers.
- The passenger configuration can carry a total of 19 passengers which even allows for large windows to bring in light through the whole cabin.

With a max payload capability of 6,000 Lbs it is impressive in what it can carry on-board. In addition the speed of up to 200 ktas allows for overnight deliveries to be made without a delay.
Future Customers
On the launch date of the aircraft back in November 2017 FedEx Express partnered with Textron to sign for up to 100 aircraft in the future. The initial signing of the order was for 50 cargo aircraft with the option of purchasing 50 more.
FedEx has been a 30 year customer for Cessna having operated their Cessna Caravan. As we start to see the aircraft start being delivered I would expect to see some bullish following from both Textron (TXT) and FedEx (FDX).

What do you think of the new Cessna Courier?
With so many great applications and capabilities it certainly opens a new range of uses.
There has yet to be a model design of the aircraft in a business class configuration.
Do you see the potential of this aircraft being owned by an individual or corporation looking to use the aircraft for business shuttle purposes?
With so many possibilities with its large cabin, incredible range and unique design, where will you go, and who will you take with you?
